At LanCATster Cat Café in Lancaster, PA, we’re more than just a cat café—we’re a temporary home for adoptable rescue cats waiting to find their forever families. Every visitor, every cup of coffee, and every volunteer helps support our mission of cat rescue, adoption, and animal welfare. Our volunteers are the heart of the café. They help create a welcoming experience for guests while making sure our feline residents are happy, healthy, and living their best nine lives.
what you'll do
Volunteer shifts are at least two hours and may include:
- Greeting guests with a smile
- Sharing information about our adoptable cats and the cat café experience
- Answering visitor questions
- Supervising safe, positive interactions between guests and cats
- Refreshing food and water
- Scooping litter and helping keep our cat lounges clean and comfortable
- Giving our rescue cats plenty of love, attention, and enrichment
how to become a volunteer
Ready to join the fun? To volunteer at LanCATster Cat Café, you must:
- Be 16 years of age or older
- Be legally eligible to work in Pennsylvania
- Apply through Columbia Animal Shelter using the application link on this page
- Pass a background check
- Complete our mandatory Cat Café volunteer training
After training, you’ll be able to sign up for volunteer sessions that fit your schedule.

Besides unlimited purrs and kitten cuddles… Every volunteer receives one complimentary beverage during each volunteer shift. Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours if you ask us.
